REE Tetrad Effect and Sr-Nd Isotope Systematics of A-Type Pirrit Hills Granite from West Antarctica

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Pirrit Hills are located in the Ellsworth–Whitmore Mountains of West Antarctica. granite exhibits significant negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.01~0.25) and a REE tetrad effect indicating intensive magmatic differentiation. Whole-rock Rb-Sr Sm-Nd geochronologic analysis gave respective ages 172.8 ± 2.4 Ma with initial 87Sr/86Sr 0.7065 0.0087 169 12 144Nd/143Nd 0.512207 0.000017. isotopic ratio data indicate that formed by remelting Mesoproterozoic mantle-derived crustal materials. Both chondrite-normalized patterns Sr-Nd has geochemical features effects highly fractionated granites were produced from differentiation under magmatic-hydrothermal transition system.

THE AGE OF TISSINT: Sm-Nd & Rb-Sr ISOTOPE SYSTEMATICS OF A MARTIAN METEORITE FALL

Introduction: The recently acquired meteorite Tissint is the first recognized fall of a depleted shergottite. Other such shergottites were found in the hot deserts (e.g., NWA 1195, Dhofar 019, DAG 476) or in the Antarctic cold desert (e.g., QUE 94201, Y980459) and, in many cases, have disturbed isotopic systematics due to terrestrial contamination [1-4]. Tissint represents the freshest sample o...

Constraints on source-forming processes of West Greenland kimberlites inferred from Hf-Nd isotope systematics

Kimberlites from West Greenland have Hf–Nd isotope as well as major and trace element compositions that are similar to other Group I kimberlites, but that are distinctive in the spectrum of magmas sampled at Earth’s surface. The West Greenland kimberlites have eNdi that ranges from +1.6 to +3.1 and eHfi that ranges from 4.3 to +4.9. The samples exhibit ubiquitous negative DeHfi (deviation from ...

Strontium concentration, radiogenic (Sr/Sr) and stable (δSr) strontium isotope systematics in a controlled feeding study

Transhumance and palaeodiet are two central themes in archaeology and using chemical analysis of bones and teeth to reconstruct trends and patterns in diet and mobility has become a cornerstone of bioarchaeology. This study has investigated strontium concentration ([Sr]), radiogenic (Sr/Sr) and stable strontium (δSr) isotope systematics in a controlled feeding experiment on domestic pigs design...

Elemental mixing systematics and Sr–Nd isotope geochemistry of mélange formation: Obstacles to identification of fluid sources to arc volcanics

We present major and trace element concentrations in conjunction with Sr–Nd isotope ratios to investigate the geochemical characteristics of mélange formation along the subduction zone slab–mantle interface. Mélange matrix of the Catalina Schist formed within an active subduction zone of the southern California borderland in Cretaceous time. Mélange formed through the synergistic effects of def...
